Please read our Terms below for details. This is a rare and beautiful piece of exceptional quality: a beautifully preserved chef's kitchen knife hand-forged and crafted in a timeless style. Its blade markings are clear and present as well as complete, but they don't name any maker, reading, along with the crown logo, "V R [Victoria Regina], WARRANTED, SHEAR STEEL, " dating this piece back to the reign of Queen Victoria, indicating it's at LEAST 119 years old, as of this writing (her reign ended in 1901). The style of its construction, however, tells us it's much older, probably dating to the 1870's-1880's. Remarkably, it is in perfectly useful and rock solid condition, incredibly well-preserved after all these years and there could be no more fitting tribute to the quality and craftsmanship with which it was made.

Its solid (bovine) bone handle scales are brass-pinned over a full and tapered tang, which is integral with blade and bolster. It's 100% solid, stable and free of any hairlines, chips or other problems.

A thin coating of mineral oil (or lanolin) on handle and blade will keep both looking your for another century or two. This knife is a model of beauty, functionality and craftsmanship. It measures 8" long with 4" blade, a VERY handy piece that will slice, dice, make a sandwich or do just about anything you require of it, from paring to cutting meats. It's elegant enough to serve at even the most refined table, cutting charcuterie, slicing sausages--ANYTHING--but it's tough as nails and will thrive in even the most demanding or busy kitchen, amateur or professional. And just look at it--it is a thing of beauty and a work of the cutler's art.

The quality of its hand-forged carbon steel blade and beautiful handle is exquisite. When you use a knife like this, it feels like an extension of your hand, not a mere object that you're holding.
