As I continue to decommission my older knives, this is one of the hardest to say good-bye to. I've had it only for about thirty years and I associate with it some of the best meals I've ever had, so up it goes to a new and loving home, hopefully yours. There's no way of knowing its exact origins, but its inlaid design sure is Swedish, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was brought over by immigrants or made by some local blacksmith or enterprising handyman of Swedish descent, of which there once wee many in that part of the country. In terms of its quality of materials and craftsmanship, it's got just about everything going for it one could ask. Blade is hand-forged carbon steel with a subtle radius grind that will enable INCREDIBLE performance.

It is RAZOR sharp now and is easy to keep that way. Blade has been firmly anchored into the beautiful (pretty sure it's birch) handle by virtue of a rather large and elaborate inlaid pewter bolster, inlaid similarly at the sides with stars. It's all been executed perfectly. I've used it over the years to slice more turkeys, hams, roasts and to fillet more fish than I can remember, and whether you plan on using it or just adding it to a collection, it's a quality piece that is sure to please.

Of course, it will make a very fine present, indeed, to any chef. It's a beautiful knife as you can plainly see in the photos, but I really think you'd need to hold it in your hand to fully appreciate it. Measures 15.5" long with RAZOR SHARP 10" blade that is mostly diff, only very slightly flexible. It is a total package that comes up BIG by any measure.
