Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades.

In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. That's quite a bold offer to make but this knife fully backs it up with all the quality of materials, craftsmanship and especially performance that one could ever hope to have. It was made in Solingen, Germany by J.

Henckels and there are several things about it that make it extra special. What's immediately astonishing about the knife is its purely French, Sabatier-type design, made in what's known as the "Nogent style" for the city of the same name in France.

Its blade was entirely hand-forged form carbon steel of the highest quality, as you'd fully expect from any Henckels knife of this vintage, with the knife dating to the early 1900's. It's finely forged blade is thin yet very strong and stout, making it the ideal chef knife in this size. It measures 12.25" long overall length, with a 7.25" blade that is 1-5/8 at the hilt. Blade/handle junction is reinforced with an iron ferrule at the bolster, and anchored at its pommel with a steel tang-pin. This is, without a doubt, one of the singularly lightest, most balanced smaller chef knives we've ever had the pleasure to offer and you will truly be thrilled with it if that kind of knife appeals to you--as it surely should.

Its blade is stamped, J. Henckels Twinworks, Solingen, Germany, 100-7. Just look at this knife--truly a thing of beauty and a true work of the cutler's art. Handle was made with a gorgeous ebony of the highest quality, warm to the touch, pleasing to the eye and beautifully preserved.

It was originally some kind of promotional item for a company called Gaylord Boxes and it has a bronze medallion bearing their name inset flush into the handle on reverse side. The maximum limit of the knife, however, can only be fully understood in the using. Its balance in your hand and its relative light weight enables it to speed through your workday in any kitchen, amateur or pro. Julia Child has written extensively about her love of these Nogent-style knives and they are VERY hard to find in any condition, but German examples are FAR less common than their French counterparts and you'll certainly NOT be seeing another one of these anytime soon, especially not in such beautifully perserved condition. It's been professionally sharpened for this sale and is now RAZOR sharp and ready to show you a whole new world of performance chopping, dicing, mincing.

I predict that the first-time user of this knife will be an instant convert for life. A great opportunity for yourself or a lucky loved one on your gift list to acquire an heirloom quality piece in heirloom condition.
