Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades. In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. Dick carbon steel chef knife is ready to kick your kitchen into warp speed. From one of the finest cutlery companies in the world comes this pro-quality vintage Chef's knife from F. Dick, made in Esslingen, Germany.

It's stamped only, F. DICK, MADE IN GERMANY, along with the company's arrow logo but if it could talk it would tell you a tale of quality, craftsmanship and performance. It's an older knife, as evidenced by the way the K in the maker's mark looks like an H, and dates to before WWII.

This beautiful knife comes with a hand-forged carbon steel blade with solid African ebony handles triple-riveted onto its full and tapered tang. Its blade is made of beautiful carbon steel, and will hold a razor's edge, with relatively easy honing.

In fact, it's RAZOR sharp now, having been professionally edged for this sale by the good people at Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles, the best in the business. As such it's FAR sharper than when it was new--guaranteed to THRILL. Condition is excellent throughout with no problems of any kind. If you've never used a carbon steel knife before, you're in for a treat. Experienced chefs know that only a true carbon steel blade can consistently attain the razor-sharp edge that makes cooking a true pleasure you must wipe the knife after every use to avoid stains and rusting, but will be richly rewarded with superior performance!

This knife is perfectly balanced and will make you wonder why you suffered for all these years without one. Measures 15.25" with a 10" blade--but it's keen edge and balance make it excellent for any job in your kitchen, large or small. It's beautifully preserved and ready to serve a useful lifetime of dicing, chopping, slicing and generally making fast work of whatever you put in its way. You might not be aware that German makers like F. Dick began to use recycled steel stock in 1987, but this knife was made WELL prior to that from virgin iron ore. Another unusual feature of the knife is that for a knife of this size, it uses a relatively light-weight blade--much more like a French knife than a German one. This makes it especially well-suited for herbs, scallions, shallots, garlic or other smaller jobs. Make no mistake, though, it's certainly hefty enough to quickly tackle your kitchen's largest jobs. The fit and finish of its blade and handle are what you should expect from one of Germany's finest cutlery makers and it really is much more beautiful than today's composite-handled equivalent--warm to the touch and beautiful to look at. Whether you are a professional or amateur chef, you'll instantly come to love this magnificent vintage knife as one of your very favorites. Also will make an exceptionally surprising gift for the discriminating chef on your list. A WORD ABOUT MAINTENANCE: Never use a dishwasher. Wash the knife by hand and wipe clean immediately thereafter. Wipe the knife clean when using it on wet or acidic foods. It WILL rust if not maintained properly. I apply a very thin coat of non-toxic mineral oil to blade and wooden handles periodically, to seal them from ambient moisture in the atmosphere (olive or corn oil will suffice).
