In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. Without doubt, this is one of the finer vintage Wusthof knives you'll ever find with a stainless blade. It bears the Hammacher Schlemmer brand, because it was made by Wusthof for sale by Hammacher when they were still a department store; it would be only in more recent decades that they became a toy store.

Still, anyone who knows knives can tell you that NO ONE but Wusthof made a chef knife shaped quite exactly like this one. Found here used but still in excellent condition with no problems despite being well over 60 years old, this beautiful vintage chef knife comes with a 10-3/8" blade (measures 15-3/8" overall) that was hand-forged in Solingen, Germany. In one key way, however, it is BETTER than when it was new, having been professionally edged by Ross Cutlery of Downtown Los Angeles--the best in the business. It is now sharper than when it first left the factory and is guaranteed to thrill even the most jaded user. Handle is genuine ebony of the highest quality, not plastic, warm to the touch and easy on the eyes, hafted over a full and tapered tang. This represents a superior blade which will NOT fail under duress and the entire knife as a whole exhibits the kind of craftrsmanship and balance that embody a now-gone age that has been usurped by the mass-production methods that maximize profits and make our eyes, as users, glaze over in boredom. Like all Wusthof knives, it's fit and finish are world-class, it's feel and balance are perfect--one of the finest knives any gourmet could hope to own--every chef's best friend and most heavily relied-upon tool in the ongoing battle against boring food. It's the man tool for dicing, chopping and for just about everything else one can endeavor to do with food. A great find at an even better price and an excellent addition to your kitchen arsenal. A great knife that user and collector alike will rightly come to think of as an heirloom.
