Their knives manufactured with the finest steel earned a good reputation for quality. In 1840s, John Russell introduced the legendary "Green River Works Knife" and it became an instant success. Its design and quality was overwhelmingly accepted by American consumers.

Between 1840 and 1860 it is estimated that 60,000 dozen Green River knives were sent west to emigrants, buffalo hunters, Indians, miners and settlers. This knife has the blade hand forged from the fine carbon steel and tempered to achieve greater toughness providing the long-lasting keen edge cut-ability. The handle is single pinned over the full tang and double.

Late 19th Century - Early 20th Century. Weight 2 - 3 oz. Maintenance Suggestion: Hand wash only in warm water after using, especially if used on foods that have acidic sauce/liquid.

After washing it, wipe the blade and handle completely dry. Use of electric knife sharpener or dishwasher not recommended.
