Measuring 30.75" long overall with a 25.25" blade and weighing in at a VERY impressive 53.4 ounces--well over FOUR POUNDS--this extraordinary knife was made big and badass to perform an equally big and badass job--reducing giant tuna of the Mediterranean Sea to progressively more manageably sized cuts for sale at wholesale and retail levels. It's a hand-forged piece, made in Southern Italy in the 1960s-70s with a blade made from some of the finest carbon steel, thick and sturdy enough to pry open a safe. It may shine like stainless steel but its blade is carbon steel and will discolor normally with use and proper care. Handles are the finest walnut, brass riveted over a full tang with a solid non-slip pommel made from machined brass to help keep the knife safely in hand in even the wettest and most slippery conditions. For the purpose of this sale we've had this knife EXPERTLY edged to a razor's keen by the good folks at Ross Cutlery in downtown Los Angeles, the best in the business. As such, we guarantee that it will thrill even the most jaded user--WICKEDLY sharp as few knives ever can be. Please study the photos very carefully and you'll see this is truly a work of utilitarian art--a thing of beauty and usefulness in equal measure. It's a custom-made piece, not factory made, almost certainly by one of the several blacksmiths that served fishing fleets in Southern Italy's port cities for centuries. I suspect that if it bore a maker's marking or if it could talk it would tell us many interesting things about its history--not least of which would be that it should be priced significantly higher! Of course, the true measure of this knife can be assessed only by holding it in your hand or by using it. We feel quite sure you'll agree that it comes up quite huge, indeed--heirloom-quality for user and collector alike, GUARANTEED.
