1880s Antique 4 1/4 Blade GOODELL Carbon Paring Knife USA

Antique Paring Knife with Carbon Steel Blade, Bolster, Inlay, & Wood Handle Made by. Goodell Company was founded by David Harvey Goodell in 1875 in Antrim, New Hamshire.

His company made knives and a collection of various cutting devices including apple peelers. The company lasted till 1983 when it was bought by Chicago Cutlery.

This knife has the blade hand forged from the fine carbon steel and tempered to achieve greater toughness. Providing the long-lasting keen edge cut-ability. The handle is double bolstered to good fitting for. This item has the design invented by Walter D.

Woods with the patent number 82,779 issued on Oct 6th, 1868. Late 19th Century - Early 20th Century. Weight 1 - 2 oz. Grinding pitting patina on both sides of the blade (last two photos), blade structure is good.

Maintenance Suggestion: Hand wash only in warm water after using, especially if used on foods that have acidic sauce/liquid. After washing it, wipe the blade and handle completely dry. Use of electric knife sharpener or dishwasher not recommended.
