Antique Heavy Weight Heavy Duty Chopper Cleaver Butcher Knife with Solid Steel Blade & Wood Handle Made by. Foster Brothers Cutlery Company was founded by Frank and Allie Foster in 1878 in Fulton, New York. In 1904 John Chatillon and Sons company acquired Foster Bros. Cutlery adn changed the name to Foster Bros. Its brands include Foster & Fulton. This cleaver knife has the blade forged from the solid steel. And hardened & tempered to achieve greater toughness. The handle is triple pinned over the full tang to secure fitting for durability, strength, & balance. It has the heavy weight designed for heavy cutting and chopping jobs, such as cutting through bones and separating frozen foods. Weight 3 1/4 - 3 1/2 lbs. Pitting patina on both sides of the blade & cracked handle (last three photos), blade structure and handle structure are good.
Maintenance Suggestion: Hand wash only in warm water after using, especially if used on foods that have acidic sauce/liquid. After washing it, wipe the blade and handle completely dry. Use of electric knife sharpener or dishwasher not recommended.
