With Carbon Steel Blade and Stag Handle. John Russell Cutlery Company was founded by John Russell in 1832 in. Their knives manufactured with the finest steel earned a good reputation for quality. In 1840s, John Russell introduced the legendary "Green River Works Knife" and it became an instant success. Its design and quality was overwhelmingly accepted by American consumers. Between 1840 and 1860 it is estimated that 60,000 dozen Green River knives were sent west to emigrants, buffalo hunters, Indians, miners and settlers.
From the Green River region in Massachusetts. Blade and rat-tail tang are forged from a single piece of steel and fitted with a handle.
Has the blade hand forged from the fine carbon steel and tempered to achieve greater toughness. Providing the long-lasting keen edge cut-ability. The tang is fitted with the stag to good fitting for durability, strength, & balance.

Cracked handle (last two photos), handle structure is good.Maintenance Suggestion: Hand wash only in warm water after using, especially if used on foods that have acidic sauce/liquid. After washing it, wipe the blade and handle completely dry.
