Please read our Terms below for details. PLEASE NOTE: We take our photos in natural light outdoors and as a result there are sometimes reflections or shadows or glare shown in the blades.

In person none of these exist; we will say so in the description if it may be otherwise. Its maker is Joseph Rodgers, the single most storied and legendary maker of fine cutlery the world has ever known, and for centuries, official cutlers to the British Crown. It was made in the 19th Century in Sheffield, England, and as you can see in the photos, its VR markings indicate it was produced during the reign of Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1836 through 1901, so it's no less than 117 years old. It is, to say the least, a beauty.

Notice how beautifully the (bovine) bone handles have mellowed with the passing of time and the touch of a thousand hands--it bears an almost gem-like quality, deep goldenrod in its patina with an unusual brass 4-pin pattern over its full and tapered tang. It's is also a FEARSOME performer, even today, and still RAZOR sharp, fully capable of being used today as a slicer or carving knife, in either kitchen or at table.

With a very British broad tip, the blade is fully forged with an integral bolster and tang. It's a medium-weight blade, but very strong and stiff. Condition is excellent with no problmes. Blade is full, and handle is solid with no cracks, chips or looseness.

Its 8" blade (12.5" overall length) is still capable of several lifetimes of outstanding service, but if you choose to display it only, we won't tell! If you plan on using this knife, you'll find none finer. If you're simply collecting, you're in luck--this is a rare opportunity to add some authenticity and quality to your collection. Don't let it get away!
