Arne Jacobsen for Anton Michelsen "AJ" Flatware for 8 Denmark Cutlery. Stainless steel flatware service for 8. Jacobsen is also known for his furniture designs such as the'Egg' &'Swan' chairs. This style was originally designed for the Royal Copenhagen Hotel in 1957, Jacobsen's minimalist flatware was later used in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film, 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are 48 pieces total, each with a satin finish, accompanied by the original stainless steel box with fitted plastic liner (no lid). 8 dinner knives - 8 butter spreaders - 8 forks - 8 salad/lunch forks - 8 soup spoons - 8 teaspoons. All pieces are marked'A. Michelson Stainless Denmark, with Jacobsen's'AJ' monogram. The Michelson production is earlier than the Georg Jenson version of this pattern. Overall condition is good, with very minor wear and scratches to the finish of the stainless. Minor wear to the box and liner. Please see photos as they form an important part.
