Very nice John Pearce & Co Sheffield Firth Stainless Steel Flatware Set and Wellington Custom Made Cutlery Chest. There are Twenty Seven (27) pieces with Bakelite handles and Fifty-Nine pieces with Stainless Steel Handles. The Bakelite pieces are marked on the stainless' John Pearce & Co Sheffield' and'Firth Stainless'.The Bakelite handles are a caramel color. The Stainless pieces all have hallmarks that read JP&Co, EP and A1'. The flatware has some weight to them that feels nice in the hand. Firth Brown Steels was initially formed in 1902 when Sheffield steelmakers John Brown & Company exchanged shares and came to a working agreement with neighboring company Thomas Firth & Sons. In 1908 the two companies came together and established the Brown Firth Research Laboratories and it was here, in 1912, under the leadership of Harry Brearley they developed high chrome stainless steel.

The Wellington Edwardian-style chest is custom-made mahogany with a plain brass inlay in the middle of the hinged lid that is ready to be monogrammed. Each area inside the chest is lined with grey felt and holders to help protect the flatware from banging together.The drawer pulls are rings with a flower relief in the center. It has a skeleton key lock that is marked'ACME British Make Secure Action Lock'.
