SOLINGEN Germany Hand Forged Chrome Steel Knives 6pc. Leaf Knife Set, Orig. Box
This beautiful 6 piece knife set is an original Solingen set from Germany. It is accompanied with its original box, which was also made in Germany and is stamped as such. The knives are hand forged, chrome steel and feature intricate leafs on their handles.
Upon inspection I believe the handles to be a mix of steel, ceramic with chrome overlay (for the leaf design). The box has some slight scratching and chipping but otherwise is in exact working condition as both clasps close as they should.
The knives sit perfectly within their individual dividers. I have not seen any of these knives listed with their original box or in as good of condition as the set that I have here. There are some conditioning aspects for these as I have outlined below as well as taken the time to picture for you. If you have any questions please feel free to message me at any time. It truly is a wonderful set contained within its original box and just needs a little TLC (tend and loving care) to get them gleaming like new.
I approximate the date of these knives to be around the 1940's. MEASURES: 8.25" in length and the handles are a bit larger than a 1/4" in width. CONDITION: These need polished and cleaned up, there are some grime spots near the handle and surrounding area on some (please see pictures).
I did not observe any cracks or chips, the knives are very sharp (I actually cut my nail whilst picturing them lol) and they seem to be in perfect working or display order aside from just needing polished and cleaned up. I did use my nail to see if some of the grime would remove via scraping on the one knife that I pictured with the most buildup and it did start coming off. There are also a few rust or oxification spots around the handle on some as well as light scratches on the chrome in various places. Box has slight scratching and peeling in places. Overall: VERY GOOD for most knives and GOOD for the one knife with the most grime. Box is in VERY GOOD condition as well especially due to its age.
