VINTAGE LOT OF 12-PIECE PLACE SETTINGS + SERVING PIECES OF RARE EL MOROCCO, NYC NIGHT CLUB - FLATWARE = 124 PIECES - INCREDIBLY RARE - BY WALLACE SILVERSMITHS, "KINGS" PATTERN - DOCUMENTED THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHS This vintage LOT OF 124 PIECES OF RARE 12-PIECE PLACE SETTINGS FROM EL MOROCCO, NYC NIGHT CLUB: INCLUDING SERVING PIECES, are in perfect mint condition. They are of high quality silver plated pieces, of restaurant-ware weight. They were produced by Wallace Silversmiths, in the Kings Pattern, and are marked: "1835 R WALLACE". All are in vintage mint condition. There are no other markings that I can see - other than the maker's marks on these pieces.
Photographs were very difficult to find for documentation - perhaps on purpose as most of the publicity shots were taken either before or after the messy plates and utensils were removed. PLEASE NOTE: There are also iconic original photographs that are for sale of the interior of the EL MOROCCO NIGHT CLUB itself, from the vintage Golden Age original photographs. EL Morocco's familiar Schiaparelli glass palm trees, blinking oriental stars against a midnight blue ceiling, and the zebra-striped banquettes, which were the club's renowned trade mark, are clearly on display.
There is also a scrapbook of vintage newspaper clippings available. The term "cafe society" correctly describes EL Morocco's patronage. And there is also a original booklet of handwritten early 1950's original recipes, that are signed and dated by Joe Perona, the Head Chef of the EL MOROCCO NIGHT CLUB, and co-owner with brother, John Perona. It was the undisputed queen of supper clubs and represented all that can be meant by the word "glamour" in New York nightlife.It draw it's patronage from London, Paris, Madrid and Rome, as well as from the capitals of South America. It's name was as well known in Hong Kong as it was in Moscow.
