Vintage Fine 3XL Light-Weight Chef Knife with Carbon Steel Blade & Wood Handle Made by Washington Cutlery Company. Washington Cutlery Company was founded in 1894 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1906 it moved to Watertown, Wisconsin and became incorporated. The company manufactures the Village Blacksmith Brand of butcher knifes, cleavers, corn knifes, tools, sickels, cold chisels, screwdrivers, punches.... It was one of the top in professional cutlery for chefs and meat butchers. It stayed in business from the early 1900's to 1960's. The knife has the blade forged from the fine carbon steel designed to take a finer edge and hold it longer providing sharp cutting satisfaction. The handle is triple riveted over the full tang to sure fitting to make it both easy and comfortable to use. It has the wonderful condition (almost like NOS). Weight 8 - 9 oz. Light dark patina on both sides of the blade (last two photos), blade structure is good.

Maintenance Suggestion: Hand wash only in warm water after using, especially if used on foods that have acidic sauce/liquid. After washing it, wipe the blade and handle completely dry.
