Vintage Russell Dexter Meat Cleaver Great Bargain High Carbon Steel. The 150 year old blade is pitted and handle has a micro crack in it but it is a solid tight unit that can still be used as it is sharp and heavy (at 2 lb 3.7 ounces). The blade could be honed to a razor like consistency. The cleaver-knife is 15 inches long with a handle about 6 1/2 inches and blade of 8 1/2 inches. The bend in the end of the handle serves as a safety in that your hand won't slip off of it too easy.
The model number was removed long ago by the previous owner for some reason or another. Dexter is still imprinted in the handle and is very legible. Three brass rivets hold the rosewood securely to the handle.
